The hydromassage bathtubs using the thermal spring water of Comano are indicated to treat chronic venous insufficiency, phlebopathies, and circulatory issues that are responsible of swelling, heaviness, and dilated capillaries in the legs, particularly among women.
What is it?
Chronic venous insufficiency occurs due to a failure in the function of the peripheral veins, caused by a disruption in the valve system. It can involve both the superficial and/or deep venous system.
What does it look like?
It manifests itself by the appearance of varicose veins in the lower limbs, due to the permanent dilatation of the venous walls that lead to the increase of the diameter of the veins. The clinical picture can sometimes be complicated by the occurrence of eczema and chronic ulcerations. The first distressing symptoms are heaviness and tightness in the legs. Other frequent symptoms are tingling or prickling sensations, night cramps, and a burning sensation with or without itch on the skin covering the varicose veins. Sometimes, the first symptom is restlessness in the lower limbs when sitting, standing, or lying in bed at night. Finally, another typical although not constant symptom is the formation of an oedema (swelling) that affects the ankles, particularly in hot seasons or climates and among women during their menstrual cycle or pregnancy.
What causes it?
In clinical practice, almost 70% of patients have a familial predisposition to this condition. Female hormones play an important role; pregnancies and the use of hormonal contraception increase the risk of onset of this pathology. Other trigger factors include obesity, orthopaedic anomalies, and finally environmental or working conditions (technological progress has exacerbated this pathology, since many professions require workers to sit or stand still for long periods).
Thermal hydrotherapy and health benefits
The hydromassage has a general effect on the whole body, relaxing the muscles and reducing the blood pressure. The treatment provides a relaxing and uplifting effect, stimulating the blood microcirculation. The thermal spring water has cleansing, soothing, and stimulating properties that promote the regeneration of the skin’s superficial layer. Therefore, it is indicated in vascular pathologies complicated by stasis eczema, pigmentation, and venous ulcers.
